myRoguelike Update

September 21st, 2009 No comments

So the myRoguelike project has been on the back burner for a little while, but I assure you it is not forgotten. I am considering ways to differentiate it from the current stock of roguelikes, and my have hit upon an idea. I am considering the possibility of making it a “buttonless” roguelike. How many other “buttonless” roguelikes there may be, I don’t know for sure, but I suspect that given the nature of the genre its few if any. I can already hear the shrieks and questions of how and why from the millions of followers that this project has, but I think it might be cool to try to provide the depth and variation of play that roguelikes are known for in a “buttonless” package. As a teaser, I will grant that in the traditional implementation, there would be buttons used in the “buttonless” implementation, but they would be confined strictly to movement and could be replaced by a mouse, trackball, or finger (possibly). Any comments?

Where does SOA architecture belong?

September 21st, 2009 No comments

Where does your organization manage SOA services? Are they the property of an application development organization or an enterprise services organization? Does it depend on who the end user is or what back end or subsystems the web services depend on? What about for vendor provided applications? These are questions we need answers to! Leave a comment.

Sunday night party

So how did everyone else like the debut of Jerryworld? I was impressed with the stadium and the quality of the game. I bet the ratings will be the highest for a regular season game in years. And 105 thousand people may signal a new era of expansion in the NFL. Now if we can just get rid of the stupid “coaches calling timeouts” rules along with instant replay, we will really be making progress!

Three posts in one day!

September 19th, 2009 No comments

Okay, most everything should be back the way it was before the site move. Let me know if something is still broken. FYI, the translations links probably will not work for awhile, as it takes time for cron to process the backlog of text into 43 different languages. Also, in honor of my new blackberry, this site should now be mobile phone friendly. Let me know how that is! It renders nicely on my 8900 Curve. I don’t have an iPhone, but supposedly it should render well on that hardware as well.

Site moved

September 19th, 2009 No comments

In an effort to save money, I have moved the site from a windows server 2003 host to a linux host.  The move has been completed, however as you can see a few things were not ported over (the site theme for one).  I will address these shortly.
