Three posts in one day!

September 19th, 2009 No comments

Okay, most everything should be back the way it was before the site move. Let me know if something is still broken. FYI, the translations links probably will not work for awhile, as it takes time for cron to process the backlog of text into 43 different languages. Also, in honor of my new blackberry, this site should now be mobile phone friendly. Let me know how that is! It renders nicely on my 8900 Curve. I don’t have an iPhone, but supposedly it should render well on that hardware as well.

Site moved

September 19th, 2009 No comments

In an effort to save money, I have moved the site from a windows server 2003 host to a linux host.  The move has been completed, however as you can see a few things were not ported over (the site theme for one).  I will address these shortly.

New Look

I have axed the Joomla CMS which was the backend to chaswick.net in favor of Wordpress.  We’ll see how that goes.  The famous five minute install took about an hour.  In their defense, the major problem could be traced to a failure of Windows Server 2003 to copy every file from the archive, so there were a directory or two of important .php scripts missing, causing all sorts of funny errors.  In addition there was a “FastCGI Handler Error” which I discovered was because I hadn’t updated the fastcgi.ini file in the win32/inetsrv directory with the site ID to enable php to run.  Oh well, it went infintely better than the horrible Movable Type blogging software I tried to install on Windows Server.  I do not recommend that platform if you value, uh, pretty much anything at all, even killing babies.
